Cobbles & Vines Book Sleeve Pattern

The Cobbles & Vines Book Sleeve is a quick and fun crochet pattern to create a cosy and sturdy book sleeve to always have your favourite books with you!

The stitch used is custom, easy, and fully explained in the pattern, and it requires colour change only once, so no worries about having too many ends to weave in! It uses little yarn, and it’s a quick make, so it’s perfect for destashing and as a gift for your loved ones!

This pattern can be found on my shops on Ravelry and Ko-Fi and can be downloaded for free there. Here, I'll be sharing a quick version of the pattern! The version in the shop, contains also the made-to-measure instructions, in case you want to create a book sleeves for a specific book that doesn't follow standard sizing.

Body Boarders & Sewing the edges:

In any colour, and with 4.5 mm hook, slst together the sides folding the fabric - take care of hiding the strands created by the colour change. Sew the sides together if you prefer!

After stitching the sides together, stitch the bottom together. Now, You will have only the top opened.
You can stop here for a easier make.

Flap:

Decide which side is the front side (that is, where you are going to attach the button).

In Colour B:

Facing the RS, attach the yarn at the top right side of the back of the sleeve

Row 1: Place 26 sc sts along this top border, tc. [26]

Row 2: sc until the end of the row. tc. [26]

In Colour A:

Row 3: sc until the end of the row. tc. [26]

Row 4: sc until the end of the row. tc. [26]

This is how it looks after these 4 Rows:

In Colour B:
Row 5: *sc in the first two sts, fpdc in the next st- placed three rows below*. Repeat until you have 2 sts left. Place a sc in each. tc. [26]
Row 6: sc until the end of the row. tc. [26]

Repeat Rows 3 to Row 6 for a total of 3 sets of squares for the flap. Fasten off.

Note: you can add extra sets of squares if you want a longer flap

For a tidier look, attach the yarn at the bottom right corner of the flap facing the right side, and sc around in Colour B to hide the strands.

Folding the flap, sew the button where the flap touches the body of the book sleeve.

Facing the wrong side of the flap, determine the centre. Attach the yarn one st at the right of the centre. Ch 8. Slst in the st at the left of the centre of the flapper. This creates a buttonhole. Check if it is the correct size for your button. Add or remove ch for the perfect fit (you don’t want it to be too loose!)
